ŌLELO YOUTH XCHANGE VIDEO COMPETITION NAMES FINALISTS FROM OVER 900 STUDENT ENTRIES

 

– Winners for Hawaii’s largest video  contest  will be broadcasted live on Wednesday April 27 starting at 10 a.m. on Channel 49

 

High-definition Sony digital video cameras will be awarded to the winning schools in each of the 42 divisional categories on the morning of Wednesday, April 27 at the Awards Gala at the Sheraton Waikiki Resort. 

 

The finalist videos are from students who attend public, charter and private schools all across O‘ahu and Hawai‘i, Kaua‘i and Maui counties.

‘Ōlelo Youth Xchange was developed to help give island keiki a voice to tell stories in a variety of video formats and about subjects that are meaningful to them.

In addition to presenting sponsor Sony, the 13th annual ‘Ōlelo Youth Xchange Student Video Competition receives significant support from event and major sponsors, to include the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, Sheraton Waikiki and Na Leo TV.

The Office of Senator Shimabukuro would like to congratulate the schools from District 21 that are the finalists in the 13th Annual ‘Ōlelo Youth Xchange Statewide Student Video Competition, presented by Sony.  Waianae High School, Waianae Intermediate School, Ka Waihona o Ka Na’auao Public Charter School and Ma’ili Elementary School all made it into the finalist portion of the challenge with their videos on a range of categories and subjects.
