Accompanying Senator Akaka was Lōpaka Baptiste of Senator Shimabukuro’s staff.  Lōpaka, who is from Nānākuli and lives in Mā’ili, served as a policy advisor in Senator Akaka’s Washington D.C. office for nearly seven years.
