Waianae High School Searider Productions (SP) program hopes to expand its classroom space to accommodate the many students who are interested in the program. In addition to its video production program, SP now includes digital media, journalism, animation, graphic designs, web design, interactive media, audio production, and photography. Waianae Neighborhood Board forms Hawaiian Affairs Sub-Committee

On March 4, 2015, Ken Koike, Biblical Naturopath / Farm Project Coordinator for Waianae Coast Community Alternative Development Cooperation, visited the capitol. Koike notified Sen. Shimabukuro that he is a member of the newly formed Hawaiian Affairs Committee, which is a subcommittee of Waianae Neighborhood Board. The Hawaiian Affairs Committee hold meetings every last Friday of the month, starting with a potluck at 5pm, followed by a meeting from 6-8pm. The meetings are held at Waianae District Park’s Multi-Purpose room. Members of the public are welcome. Waianae College NOW Summer Program

Wai‘anae ‘College NOW’ – 90-hour community based college exploration and leadership program designed to expose Leeward Coast high school students to the numerous Hawaii based post-secondary opportunities. Students will gain college preparedness skills from “how to apply to” through “how to succeed in” college. Guest speakers and pro-fessionals will offer insight on financial aid, scholarships, and college life. Through project based and experiential learn-ing opportunities participants will learn how they can prepare NOW to ensure success in the future. Field trips are designed to increase college awareness, build leadership skills and introduce the students to the area of Community

Requirements:
High School student entering the 10th, 11th or 12th grade
Resident of the Leeward Coast of Oahu
