The Washington Internships for Native Students (WINS) Program at American University is now accepting applications from Native Hawaiian students for the Summer 2015.  WINS is a visionary effort founded on the idea that Native students can build leadership skills while living, studying and interning in Washington, D.C. and bring those skills back to their communities.  Students participate in a full-time internship and an intense academic program at American University for 9 weeks. Students receive ALL tuition and fees paid for including round-trip travel between the participant’s home and Washington, D.C., housing during the program, program-sponsored activities, course books, and social activities.  An additional stipend is given to cover meal costs and some personal expenses.

Eligibility:  Native Hawaiian, American Indian, and Alaska Native students enrolled in a college or university as a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in good academic standing are eligible to participate. Individuals who completed a degree within the past six months are welcome to apply.  Sophomores must have completed the equivalent of three (3) semesters of fulltime study to be eligible to participate in the program.
