Legislative Alert – ERS Benefits to Former Spouse Bill (HB1370) Scheduled for House Hearing: Friday, February 6, 2015

The House companion to legislation introduced by Senator Shimabukuro has been scheduled for a hearing before the House Committee on Labor & Public Employment.

HB1370 would provide statutory authority for the employees’ retirement system administrator to make direct payment to a former spouse of a member of benefits or portion thereof pursuant to valid court judgment, order, or decree, and would take effect on January 1, 2017.

The deadline to submit testimony is Thursday, February 5, 2015, at 9:00 a.m.

Although late testimony can be submitted on the day of the hearing, testimony submitted less than 24 hours prior to the hearing may not be posted online or distributed to the committee prior to the convening of the public hearing. In-person testimony is also accepted for those present during the hearing.
