Oahu Lane Closures for the week of Saturday, December 6 to Friday, December 12

PLEASE NOTE:
Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

— H-1 FREEWAY —

1) KALIHI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Full and partial weeknight closures of the H-1 Freeway are scheduled from Sunday night, December 7, through Friday morning, December 12, for remedial pavement resurfacing in the Kalihi area. The closures will be scheduled as follows:

EASTBOUND

Sunday night, December 7, through Monday morning, December 8

Full eastbound closures from the H-1 Airport Viaduct Middle Street/Dillingham Blvd off-ramp (Exit 18B) and the H-201 Moanalua Freeway Fort Shafter/King Street off-ramp to the H-1 Kalihi Street overpass from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for pavement striping and marker installations.

Eastbound H-1 Freeway Airport Viaduct traffic will be detoured to the Middle Street/Dillingham Blvd off-ramp (Exit 18B). Eastbound H-201 Moanalua Freeway traffic will be detoured to the Fort Shafter/King Street off-ramp. Traffic can re-enter the H-1 eastbound at the Kalihi Street on-ramp near Farrington High School. WESTBOUND

Sunday night, December 7, through Friday morning, December 12

Partial westbound closures on the H-1 Freeway between the Pali Highway off-ramp (Exit 21B) and the Houghtailing Street off-ramp (Exit 20B). Two freeway lanes and the School Street on-ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., nightly, for drainage grating work. Motorists wishing to access the H-1 westbound should proceed on School Street turn left onto Liliha Street and turn right onto Vineyard Boulevard to the next available on-ramp on Halona Street. Two freeway lanes and all exit ramps will remain open. 

Monday night, December 8, to Tuesday morning, December 9

Partial westbound closures from the Likelike Hwy off-ramp (Exit 20A) to the Middle Street Overpass from 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. for pavement striping and marker installations.

One left lane will remain open for through traffic to the H-201 Moanalua Freeway towards the Fort Shafter/Aiea off-ramp (Exit 19B). Three right lanes will be closed including the Likelike Highway on-ramp and the Middle Street off-ramp (Exit 19A). Motorists wishing to access the airport area may use the Fort Shafter/Ahua Street off-ramp (Exit 4) or the Puuloa Road/Tripler Hospital off-ramp (Exit 3) to Nimitz Highway as an alternate route.

All roadwork above is weather-permitting. Should nighttime rains force delays, revised schedule details will be made public as soon as possible.

2) WAIMALU TO WAIPAHU

Right lane closures on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Pearl City/Waimalu Off-Ramp (Exit 10) and the H-1/H-2 Split on Monday, December 8, through Friday, December 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for road widening and utility installations.

3) PEARL CITY TO WAIPAHU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

One lane closure at the H-1/H-2 Interchange on the H-1 Freeway, westbound, on the Mililani/Wahiawa Off-Ramp (Exit 8A) on Sunday, December 7, to Friday morning, December 12, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., nightly, for bridge joint repair work.

4) PEARL CITY TO WAIPAHU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Lane closures at the H-1/H-2 Interchange on the H-1 Freeway, eastbound, on the H-1 Freeway East On-Ramp (Exit 1A) on Sunday, December 7, to Friday morning, December 12, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., nightly, for bridge joint repair work.

5) WAIPAHU

Shoulder lane closed on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Kunia Off-Ramp (Exit 5) and the H-1/H-2 Interchange on Monday, December 8, through Thursday, December 11, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for utility installations.

6) SALT LAKE TO HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Two right lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Keehi Interchange and the Airport Off-Ramp (Exit 16) from 9 p.m. on Friday, December 5, through 12:01 a.m. on Monday morning, December 8. The Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam off-ramp (Exit 15B) will be closed. Detours will be established to allow access to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam at all times.

Airport Viaduct improvements include concrete deck replacements, expansion joint repairs, and pavement restriping. Work is located between the Pearl Harbor Interchange and the Keehi Interchange.

7) HALAWA

Left lane closure on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction on the Kaneohe/Honolulu Off-Ramp (Exit 13A) on Thursday, December 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for utility maintenance.

— H-2 FREEWAY —

1) WAIPIO (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Lane closures on the H-2 Freeway in both directions between the Ka Uka Boulevard Off-Ramp (Exit 2) and the Mililani Mauka Off-Ramp (Exit 5A) on Sunday, December 7, through Friday morning, December 12, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for bridge joint repair work and utility installations.

2) PEARL CITY TO WAIPAHU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

One lane closed on the H-2 Freeway, southbound, on the Honolulu Off-Ramp (Exit 1A) on Sunday, December 7, to Friday morning, December 12, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., and two lanes are closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., nightly, for bridge joint repair work.

3) MILILANI (WEEKEND/NIGHTWORK)

Lane closures on the H-2 Freeway in both directions at the Kipapa Stream Bridge between the Ka Uka Boulevard Off-Ramp (Exit 2) and the Mililani Mauka Off-Ramp (Exit 5A) on Sunday, December 7, and Monday, December 8, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., nightly, for bridge joint repair work.

— H-3 FREEWAY —

1) KANEOHE

Lane closure on the H-3 Freeway in both directions between the Kamehameha Highway Off-Ramp (Exit 11) and the Marine Corp Base Hawaii in Kaneohe on Monday, December 8, through Thursday, December 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for utility repairs.

2) KANEOHE (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Full road closure on the H-3 Freeway in the Kaneohe-Bound direction between the H-3 Tunnels and the Likelike Highway Off-Ramp (Exit 9) from 7 p.m. Saturday, December 6 through 7 a.m. Sunday morning, December 7, for routine tunnel cleaning.

3) KANEOHE

Right lane closure on the H-3 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Harano Tunnel and the Likelike Highway Off-Ramp (Exit 9) on Monday, December 8, through Wednesday, December 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for tree trimming.

— FARRINGTON HIGHWAY —

1) NANAKULI

Single lane closure on Farrington Highway in the westbound direction between Nanakuli Avenue and Helelua Street on Monday, December 8, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for road striping installations.

2) NANAKULI

Single lane closure on Farrington Highway in the eastbound direction between Helelua Street and Nanakuli Avenue on Tuesday, December 9, through Friday, December 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for road striping installations.

[UPDATE 12/08/14 at 12:46 PM] Tues-Fri, 12/10-12: Single lane closure on Farrington Highway in the eastbound direction between Helelua Street and Nanakuli Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for road striping and barrier installations.  HPD officers will direct traffic at the Helelua St., Haleakala Ave. and Nanakuli Ave. intersections through the week. Again, once this week’s work is complete, crews will be able to work behind the concrete barriers for the next 3-4 months with no lane closures.

3) NORTH SHORE

Lane closure on Farrington Highway in both directions between Kaukonahua Road and Kaena Point on Monday, December 8, through Thursday, December 11, from 8:30 a.m. through 3 p.m., for utility maintenance.

— KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY —

1) HAWAII KAI

Lane closures on Kalanianaole Highway in the westbound direction between Hawaii Kai Drive and Elelupe Road on Monday, December 8, through Tuesday, December 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for road repaving as part of the Kalanianaole Highway Resurfacing project.

2) AINA HAINA

Lane closures on Kalanianaole Highway in the eastbound direction between Wailupe Circle and Nenue Street on Wednesday, December 10, through Thursday, December 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for manhole adjustments apart of the Kalanianaole Highway Resurfacing project

3) HAWAII KAI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Full closure on Kalanianaole Highway in both directions between Kealahou Street and Hanauma Bay on Sunday, December 7, through Thursday morning, December 11, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. for guardrail replacements.

4) WAIMANALO

Lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway in the Kailua-Bound direction between Ehukai Street and Tinker Road from 11 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, through 3 a.m. Thursday, December 11, for utility replacements.

— KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY —

1) HALEIWA

Lane closure on Kamehameha Highway in both directions between Weed Circle and Waimea Valley Road on Monday, December 8, through Friday, December 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for utility repairs.

2) PEARL CITY (NIGHT WORK)

Ramp closure on Kamehameha Highway in the eastbound direction between Waihona Street and Acacia Road on Tuesday, December 9, through Thursday morning, December 11, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for utility installation.

3) MILILANI

Partial closures on Kamehameha Highway in both directions between Lanikuhana Avenue and Waihau Street on Monday, December 8, through Friday, December 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for utility installations, sidewalk repairs and road resurfacing.

Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays and use alternate roadways such as Kuahelani Avenue, Meheula Parkway, Lanikuhana Avenue, Ka Uka Boulevard and H-2 freeway.

4) MILILANI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Full road closure on Kamehameha Highway in both directions between Ka Uka Boulevard and Lanikuhana Avenue on Sunday night, December 7, through Friday morning, December 12, from 8:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for road reconstruction, resurfacing and installation of striping and markers.

General traffic will be re-routed to H-2 freeway but local traffic access for Kipapa Gulch residents has been coordinated to be escorted through the project site as needed. Advisory message boards have been placed near Ka Uka Boulevard and Lanikuhana Avenue with the work schedule.

13) PEARL HARBOR

Lane closure on Kamehameha Highway in the westbound direction between Center Drive and Halawa Drive on Thursday, December 11,from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for road repairs.

5) LAIE

Lane closure on Kamehameha Highway in the southbound direction from Burroughs Road to Lanihuli Street on Monday, December 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for utility installations.

— NIMITZ HIGHWAY —

1) HONOLULU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Two left lanes closed on Nimitz Highway in the westbound direction between Valkenburgh Street and Elliot Street and a partial closure of Valkenburgh intersection from 9 p.m. Friday, December 5, through 12:01 a.m. Monday morning, December 8, as a safety precaution due to deck repairs happening above.

Detours will be provided to allow safe passage around the Valkenburgh Street intersection.

2) HONOLULU

Left lane closure on Nimitz Highway in the eastbound direction between Mokauea Street and Waiakamilo Road on Monday, December 8, through Friday, December 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for road repairs.

3) HONOLULU

Right lane closed on Nimitz Highway in the eastbound direction between Lagoon Drive and Sand Island Access Road on Monday, December 8, through Friday, December 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for road repairs.

— VINEYARD BOULEVARD —

1) HONOLULU

Full closure of the H-1 Freeway eastbound Vineyard Boulevard Off-Ramp (Exit 20B) on Sunday, December 7, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., for repaving and reconstruction work as apart of the Vineyard Boulevard Resurfacing Project.

Eastbound H-1 motorists wishing to access the Kalihi-Palama area are advised to take the Pali Highway Off-Ramp (Exit 21A) to Vineyard Boulevard as an alternate route.

2) HONOLULU

Alternating lane closures on Vineyard Boulevard in the westbound direction between Nuuanu Avenue and Liliha Street on Monday, December 8, through Friday, December 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for repaving work.

The Vineyard Boulevard Resurfacing Project will resurface 10.5 lane miles from Palama Street to the H-1 Freeway On-Ramp. The repairs include sidewalks, curbs, gutters, installing bus pads, replacing existing traffic signal heads, energy-efficient, LED optical units, extending left turn lanes at the Palama Street and Liliha Street intersections, and landscaping.

— OLOMEA STREET —

1) KALIHI

Alternating two-lane closures on Olomea Street in the eastbound direction between the H-1 Vineyard Boulevard Off-Ramp (Exit 20B) and Palama Street on Sunday, December 7, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., for road resurfacing.

— KANEOHE BAY DRIVE —

1) KANEOHE

Single lane closure on Kaneohe Bay Drive in both directions between Kamehameha Highway and Nanamoana Street on Monday, December 8, through Friday, December 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Kaneohe Bay Drive Rehabilitation Project.

— SAND ISLAND ACCESS ROAD —

1) PEARL HARBOR

Right lane closure on Sand Island Access Road in the northbound direction between Nimitz Highway and Auiki Street on Tuesday, December 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for utility maintenance.

— KUNIA ROAD —

1) KUNIA CAMP

Right lane closure on Kunia Road in the northbound direction at the intersection of Kunia Drive on Monday, December 8, through Friday, December 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, for utility pole installations.

2) VILLAGE PARK

Single lane closure on Kunia Road in both directions between Plantation Road and Kupuna Loop on Monday, December 8, through Friday, December 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, for road striping.

— PUULOA ROAD —

1) HONOLULU

Lane closure on Puuloa Road in the northbound direction at the Nimitz Highway intersection between Waiwai Loop and Mapunapuna Place, on Wednesday, December 10, through Friday, December 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for utility installations.

— MOKAPU BOULEVARD —

1) KAILUA

Lane closure on Mokapu Boulevard in the eastbound direction between Oneawa Street and the H-1 Overpass on Wednesday, December 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for utility maintenance.

— KUALAKAI PARKWAY —

1) EWA (WEEKEND/NIGHTWORK)

24 hour lane closure on Kualakai Parkway in both directions between Kapolei Parkway and Farrington Highway near the Kroc Center on Saturday, December 6, through Sunday, December 7, for utility maintenance.
