Hawaii School Empowerment Conference 2014 – Nov. 28-29

Hawaii School Empowerment Conference scheduled for Friday, November 28 and Saturday, November 29, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Moanalua High School.

First Lady-Elect, Dawn Ige will deliver an opening address on education at the Hawaii Empowerment Conference.

The conference is open to all principals, vice principals, teachers, staff members, educators, parents, students, legislators, and community members interested in Hawaii’s public school system. SEE REGISTRATION INFO BELOW.

There is no cost for those attending. Lunch and refreshments will be provided for conference attendees. This conference is sponsored by the Education Institute of Hawaii.

Everyone who attends will receive a complimentary copy of “10 Lessons from New York City Schools – What Really Works to Improve Education”, by Eric Nadelstern.

The conference will feature keynote presentations by the following outstanding speakers on school empowerment:

Michael Strembitsky, former Superintendent of Edmonton Public Schools and a leading expert consultant on school empowerment

Jeremy Hauser, Associate Superintendent of Clark County School District and leader of the “Empowerment Schools” initiative in Clark County

Judy Ivie Burton, President and CEO of the Alliance College Ready Public Schools in Los Angeles Unified School District and leader of the “LEARN” school empowerment effort in Los Angeles

Dr. Tommy Chang, Instructional Area Superintendent, Intensive Support and Innovation Center, Los Angeles Unified School District and leader of the “Pilot Schools” – 49 autonomous schools in LAUSD

Dr. Sandra Stoddard, Executive Director – Governance and Strategic Support Services, Edmonton Public Schools. The Edmonton Public Schools District is one of the most admired and respected school districts in North America in the area of school empowerment.
