Sen. Shimabukuro Congratulates Nanakuli & Waianae Graduates of the IMUA Summer STEM & College Readiness Academy

On 30 June 2014, Sen. Shimabukuro delivered the keynote speech at a graduation ceremony for the IMUA Summer STEM and College Readiness Academy, held at UHWO.  The graduates were 10th grade students from Nanakuli and Waianae High who have overcome significant barriers to achieving success. The program is a partnership between Waianae and Nanakuli High, UHWO, KSBE, and GEAR UP. Project Coordinator Jean Javellana wrote:

Aloha Senator Shimabukuro,

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you again, for taking time from your busy schedule to join us at Monday’s event. Your inspirational words and encouragement were truly embraced by all. The students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the audience turn out was great. Thank you for being an exceptional role model in the community.
