Re: City Council Hearing, Wednesday April 17, 2013 – 2:00pm at Kapolei Hale; Testimony in Support of Leeward Coast projects in Bill 11 and Bill 12

Aloha,

I wish to convey my strong support for the following capital improvement projects being considered by the Council in this year’s budget:

– Bill 11: Leeward Coast Benefits Program (LCBP) – a $1.5 million community improvement package that will equally benefit the residents of Makaha, Waianae, Nanakuli, Maili, Kapolei and Makakilo. These areas receive this package due to being near to the Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill and H-Power.

– Bill 12: Makaha Beach Park and Pu`u O Hulu Community Park in Maili: $2,057,000 for improvements detailed in the Makaha Beach Park Master Plan; and $505,000 to implement the Pu`u O Hulu Community Park’s master plan, including a comfort station, parking lot and landscaping (See http://docsiis01:8080/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-217400/DOC%20(21).PDF)

These long-awaited projects will make a lasting positive impact on the quality of life for the residents of the Leeward Coast.
Thank for your time and consideration.

Mahalo,

Senator Maile S.L. Shimabukuro
