The Hawaii State Bar Association has three legal assistance programs:
1. LAWYER REFERRAL SERVICE:
Members of the public who are seeking the services of an attorney may call, fax, or e-mail the HSBA Lawyer Referral Services staff. After assesing the issue(s) or concern(s) of teh individual, the individualis given the name and contatc information of two (2) attorneys who maybe contacted. It is then up to the individual and the attorney contacted to form an attorney-client relationship, if mutually desired.

2. LEGAL LINE
Every Wednesday evening from 6:00pm to 7:00pm attorneys are available via telephone to provide legal information. The volunteer licensed pro bono attorneys try to ascertain the issue (s) or concern (s) and refer the callers to the appropriate HSBA staff, legal service provider or agency which may be contacted for assistance.

3. ACCESS TO JUSTICE ROOMS (Honolulu District Court and Kapolei Court) and SELF HELP CENTERS (Hilo, Maui and Kauai Courts)
Information centers on court premises for self-represented litigants have been established through a partnership with the Hawaii State Judiciary, the Legal Aid Society and the HSBA.
Access to Justice Rooms, which provide legal advice, have been established at the Honolulu District Court (intersection of Alakea and Hotel Streets) and the Kapolei Judicial Complex. Trianed volunteer pro bono attorneys provide legal advice in limit areas to self-represented litigants.
