HCAP Testifies at Capitol on Oct. 2

HCAP client and volunteer Pearl Paaao (left) and HCAP senior community services manager Valerie Tavai (right), testified before the Senate Judiciary & Labor and the House Labor Committees.

On 10/2/12, the Honolulu Community Action Program (HCAP) testified at the state Capitol at an informational briefing regarding the federal Community Services Block Grant (CSBG). The state also testified that it hopes to receive nearly $4m in CSBG funds this year.

“It was very moving to hear from the clients HCAP has helped, such as a resident in their transitional shelter, a high school drop out, a domestic violence victim, and a widowed kupuna,” said Sen. Shimabukuro.
