To all concerned:
SB 2640, introduced by Senator Maile Shimabukuro, would allow compost toilets and septic tanks by eliminating the requirement to hook into sewer lines. As described in the bill: “Provides that a county may not prohibit, based upon proximity to a county sewer system, the use of an otherwise authorized wastewater system as an on-site means of wastewater disposal in lieu of wastewater treatment works.”
The bill is the only item on a joint hearing by Committees on Public Safety …(PGM, Chair Senator Will Espero) and Energy and Environment (ENE, Chair senator Mike Gabbard). It is scheduled for Tue, Feb 28, at 2:30 PM in Rm 224 at Capitol.
