11/28/11 Email from PATCH forwarded by Barbie-Lei Burgess of Waianae Neighborhood Place:

I’ve attached the Race To The Top grant flyer to this email.  We still have over 100 slots to fill for the RTTT (Race to the Top) grant.  We will keep taking applications up until December 31st, then stop where we are.  The goal is 325 participating children by the cutoff date (12/31/11).

Important info on the RTTT (Race to the Top) grant:

·         No activity (job/school) required to qualify. This is important because most other subsidy programs require parents to have an activity to qualify.

·         Subsidy pays 100% of cost, up to DHS maximum of $710 accredited or $675 non-accredited preschools

·         Must ‘reside’ in a ‘Zone of Innovation’ HOWEVER, the child can be placed in any preschool on the perspective island.

Your assistance in passing on this information is appreciated.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
