Statewide Pedestrian Master Plan Mtg in Wai`anae 3/30/11

Attached is a flyer promoting the next round of public meetings for the state-wide pedestrian master plan. A meeting is scheduled for Waianae as follows:

Wednesday, March 30, 2011
6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
Waianae High School
85-251 Farrington Highway, Waianae, HI 96792

Attached for your reference is a draft list of the Areas of Concern for the Pedestrian Master Plan. nte that the treatment being proposed for Farrington Highway is not a design solution but rather public education. Given that injuries to pedestrians have occurred in the crosswalk, it may be that Waianae residents would be better served by asking for a design solution. It is a complex issue because Farrington is the major road in and out of Waianae and speeds are high, but the residents of Waianae deserve some creative thinking around this one…there are far more costly projects proposed for communities where no accidents/deaths have occurred.
