Aloha Aina Earth Day Recycling Event at Wai`anae High School a Big Success

Rene Mansho of Schnitzer Steel has reported that Wai`anae High School raised $1,750 for scrap metal alone so far at its March 5  Aloha Aina Earth Day recycling event.  Mahalo nui loa to the event’s many organizers and sponsors (see list of sponsors on flyer below).
Maile wishes to personally thank volunteers from her office: Geanine McIntosh, Sandie Morimoto (who brought volunteers from Wai`anae Health Academy), and Kapua Keli`ikoa-Kama`i.  Other volunteers and donors included Maile’s family members (Summer & Manny Miles, Karen Young, and Fred Dodge), Dansen’s Auto Repair (who donated a truckload of scrap metal); Hale Nalu Surf & Bike (who donated several bikes); and Dr. Alex Kaloi (who donated bottles, scrap metal, and drove his truck to pick up donations and bulky roadside trash).
Maile also observed several community members, such as William Jr. & Melva Aila, Mark Suiso, the Rico `Ohana, and many others.   It was great to see Wai`anae High heavily involved by donating tons of recyclables from the various buildings on campus.  Big MAHALO to Elliot Peters, Wai`anae High student body president, for spearheading the event, and all the other members of the Wai`anae High School community who came out in strong support of Aloha Aina recycling day!
