Nanakuli Athletic Department, Wrestling Coach Aika Makaula
89-980 Nanakuli Ave  Wai’anae Hawaii 96792

Aloha Mai e,
We ask for your Aloha…….
As you know our state as in many others is in need of funds and they can’t help us update and fix our facilities. Our Athletes deserve to have the same facilities as are top schools in the islands like Punahou, Kamehameha,Pearl city or Kaiser High Schools. Nanakuli at many times takes a back seat in many things and when others from our community get grants and funds, the money is designated for there own needs but as a wrestling coach at Nanakuli I feel that we need to help all sports here at Nanakuli.  The facilities here at Nanakuli need to be updated our gym leaks in many places, during big rains there are little waterfalls all over,at time we need to stop practice to mop. We would also like to build a hall of fame for our student athletes in honor of there commitment and detection to there school.

We the coaches were hired to coach, but because of the budget cuts we need to find our own ways to generate funds so we can update the equipment (place an order for the inversion table Amazon delivery, etc.) and help with our own program’s success and to help our athletes to be in a better environment that they are currently in now. At the end of the season the small check that we receive is really a reimbursement of all the things we pay for out of pocket.  As a coach I believe that one day Nanakuli High school Athletics will be a Powerhouse, and when that happens the community of Nanakuli will change and take more pride and won’t be the lowest academic school in the state of Hawai’i. This can only be done with your help.
We Ask for your Support and Aloha.

The Nanakuli High School Wrestling Team is holding a fundraiser so that they’ll be able to participate in the Maui Invitational Tournament.  They’d also like to raise money for repairs to their school’s gym.

The team hopes to raise 20K dollars at their black tie event called, “Come Fly with Us.”  It will take place at the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa’s Ocean Ballroom from 4:30 to 10 p.m. on March 16th, 2011.

“About 4-thousand dollars are needed to take the wrestling team to Maui for a tournament.  We also would like to make much needed repairs to our gym’s roof, which leaks when it rains,” said Aika Makaula, the team’s coach. Continue reading
