Aloha,

I would like to let you know that the City & County Parks Department along with HPD will be closing Keaau Beach Park (improved section) on March 6, 2011 the formal notices went out to park occupants on Jan 3, 2011 and will be given weekly until the March date. On March 6 the park will close for 2 weeks for renovations; such as repairing the comfort stations, irrigation lines, parking lots & roadway and new signage installed. Once the park reopens after the 2 week period it will follow along the other parks along the coastline and the new hours of park usage will be from 5am to 10pm with the exception of camping areas with permits only. The description of the improved area is basically the area that normally has cut grass, so the area known as Waikomo’s (the brush area) is the unimproved area and is not currently involved in this clean up. There will be further discussion of this at my Parks & Rec committee meeting on Tues, Jan 11th @ 7pm at the Waianae Neighborhood Community Center (aka Waianae Satellite City Hall Bldg). I look forward to you being at my next meeting.

I would also like to announce a Special WCNB meeting scheduled for Jan 19th, Wed 7pm at the Waianae District Park Multi-Purpose room.  The guest will be HPD and they will be doing a presentation and opening the floor to Q&A from the community.

If you should have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Mahalo,
Jo
