Wai`anae Intermediate Students Need Funds for Trip to Our Nation’s Capitol

This spring, 25 students from Wai`anae Intermediate School have the unique opportunity to participate in one of the Close Up Foundation’s weeklong, “hands-on,” government studies programs.  They will travel to Washington, DC, utilize the city as a living classroom, meet with members of Congress, leading political experts, as well as conference with their peers from around the country on current issues… providing they can raise the funds for this once in a lifetime opportunity.

“During their week in Washington, the students attend seminars on Capitol Hill and will meet with our very own government officials, political experts, and even lobbyists, to better understand the branches of government, and the ways in which they can become more involved community citizens,” explains Mr. Elten Lau, the counselor coordinating this program at the school.
