"K-9 Kokua" on the Wai`anae Coast & Beyond

K-9 Kokua specializes in rescuing dogs, assisting dogs of the houseless, advocacy on behalf of dogs, and just about anything else to do with our beloved ilio.

HSTA Visits Capitol on "Furlough Friday"

The HI State Teachers’ Assn. (HSTA) visited the capitol on “furlough friday” (2/12/10) to discuss their priorities with legislators. Two teachers who reside in Makaha visited Maile. L-R: Jamie Branch (Wai`anae Elementary teacher), Maile, and James Urbaniak (DOE curriculum specialist & LCC-Wai`anae English teacher). [Click on the photo for a larger view].

Among HSTA’s priorities are: extending the VEBA health plan, reducing class sizes, and ending furlough fridays by using $35m from the rainy day fund. HSTA does not supported a governor-appointed DOE superintendent & Board of Education.
